MORGANA CHOSEN FOR A DIGITAL FINISH AT WELLINGTON PRESS
David Murray, m.d. of Wellington Press (C&R Murray) Ltd of Leyton, East London, and his son Nick represent the second and third generations of a family that has been involved in running the company since it was established in 1932.
The latest in a long succession of major changes undergone by Wellington Press during that time is the move into digital printing, which came about with the installation of an Indigo Turbostream a few years ago. Since then David and Nick Murray have also created a new finishing section, stocking it with Morgana equipment that complements the digital process. “We installed a Morgana AutoCreaser two years ago” said David “to crease digital output prior to folding and have now taken the further step of buying a DigiFold, having acted as one of Morgana’s test sites for this since last year.”
The DigiFold was bought to perform the dual roles of creasing and folding in a single pass, but Wellington Press has retained the AutoCreaser because its higher speeds make it more suitable for volume creasing and because it handles difficult and heavier stocks more easily. “As far as we are concerned” David Murray states “the two machines are essentially complementary”.
In addition to the DigiFold, Wellington Press has also taken delivery of a Morgana UFO 1 suction feed folder and UFO 5 cross-fold unit from Morgana, together with a Foldnak 8 bookletmaker, trimmer and collator.
